Oxygen-17 nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic studies of carbonmonoxyperoxidases.
We have obtained oxygen-17 (17O) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra of C17O ligands bound to ferrous horseradish peroxidase isozyme A, isozyme C, and ferrous chloroperoxidase, as a function of pH. Our results show that the peroxidases exist in two distinct states, the acidic and alkaline forms, which undergo reversible acid-base-induced transitions characterized by a single pK value. The ...
متن کاملRecent Advances in Biosynthetic Modeling of Nitric Oxide Reductases and Insights Gained from Nuclear Resonance Vibrational and Other Spectroscopic Studies
This Forum Article focuses on recent advances in structural and spectroscopic studies of biosynthetic models of nitric oxide reductases (NORs). NORs are complex metalloenzymes found in the denitrification pathway of Earth's nitrogen cycle where they catalyze the proton-dependent two-electron reduction of nitric oxide (NO) to nitrous oxide (N2O). While much progress has been made in biochemical ...
متن کاملVibrational Spectroscopic Studies on Trans-1,4-Polychloroprene
Vibrational spectroscopy plays a prominent role in the research and development of polymers. It provides useful information on their chemical, conformational, crystal and morphological structure. The study of elastomers by Raman spectroscopy has been desirable for a long time. It has allowed quantitative work on blends and isomeric elastomers and also the direct study of the rubber vulcanisatio...
متن کاملOxygen-containing functional groups on single-wall carbon nanotubes: NEXAFS and vibrational spectroscopic studies.
Single-walled nanotubes (SWNTs) produced by plasma laser vaporization (PLV) and containing oxidized surface functional groups have been studied for the first time with NEXAFS. Comparisons are made to SWNTs made by catalytic synthesis over Fe particles in high-pressure CO, called HiPco material. The results indicate that the acid purification and cutting of single-walled nanotubes with either HN...
متن کاملIdentification of protein-bound dinitrosyl iron complexes by nuclear resonance vibrational spectroscopy.
We have applied (57)Fe nuclear resonance vibrational spectroscopy (NRVS) to identify protein-bound dinitrosyl iron complexes. Intense NRVS peaks due to vibrations of the N-Fe-N unit can be observed between 500 and 700 cm(-1) and are diagnostic indicators of the type of iron dinitrosyl species present. NRVS spectra for four iron dinitrosyl model compounds are presented and used as benchmarks for...
